Do I need a wedding day makeup trial?
I would personally 100% recommend the bride has a trial. The trial is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and make sure you are comfortable and happy with how you look. We will work with your skin type, discuss and try different colours and products, check for allergies and reactions and make sure the makeup stays put all day and night!
We can also spend some time discussing how you would like the morning of your wedding day to run and you can ask questions that will help put your mind at ease. When planning your makeup, we also need to consider your hair and your dress, if you are planning on wearing fake tan, any tattoos you may or may not want covering etc.
Does everyone in the bridal party need a trial?
No, it’s not essential but if they’re a little unsure of the kind of look or they have concerns they’d like to discuss then it may be useful. Obviously it’s your ‘big day’, therefore it’s more important that you have a trial and feel happy with your makeup. We can discuss preferences and ideas for the bridal party beforehand if preferred. They can also bring along any inspo images on the day.

Can you do just my eye makeup or just my face makeup and what is the cost?
I only offer full face makeup applications.

What is the maximum number of people you can make over?
I will accommodate for large party bookings, depending on how much time allows! I can also bring an assistant if necessary (usually required with 8 or more). Please bear in mind that I will spend approx. 45mins to an hour with each of you on the day. We can of course discuss logistics and requirements in more detail to ensure the day runs as smoothly as possible.

How can I prepare for my trial?
Trials should take place 6-8 weeks before your wedding day. Please send any images of makeup styles and colours you like as this can really help us find the perfect look for you on the day. I would recommend an early time slot as this would be the best way to test the longevity of the makeup.
How long will the trial take?
Approximately 90mins but sometimes longer- I would much rather spend longer on the application if needed to ensure you leave as happy and comfortable as possible.

How far in advance do I need to book in?
Dates, especially for weddings in peak time - March to October fill 1-2 years in advance typically. I would recommend getting in touch as soon as you know of a date/time/occasion which you would require services for.

What happens during the trial?
Firstly, we will spend time with a cuppa discussing your requirements and vision over. Then I will spend some time assessing your skin and discussing any concerns you have. We can look through photographs and images together and the products I have to see if there is anything in particular you would like to try. Once the makeup makeup application has started, I will show you how each step looks as we go. If you are unhappy with anything please do tell me as I won't be offended. Once you’re happy with the look I will make a note of all the products and colours I applied to use as a reference for the actual day if you decide to use my services. We will finish by taking some photographs as a record. Please let me know how the makeup looks and feels throughout the day so we can amend anything for the wedding day if needed.
How can I prepare for my wedding day?
The best thing you can do is look after your skin. Good skin prep and drinking lots of water is the key to making your makeup look its best.
At the very least you should be cleansing, toning and moisturising both morning and night. Even if you have oily skin, your skin needs hydration so make sure you are using a moisturiser suitable for your skin type (you may even find that your skin becomes less oily!)
Always use an SPF in the daytime and exfoliate regularly (you can even use a gentle toning exfoliant like a glycolic or lactic acid for example) to get rid of any dead skin cells or texture on your skin; this will really help us to get that flawless look. I am happy recommend where to find suitable products and advice on skin care routines if you are unsure.
A little TLC is important and will certainly help but please do not use a face mask or facial treatment within 24 hours of your makeup booking and facials should be done in plenty of time for skin to calm down.
Pre-wedding treatments
Most brides will enjoy a treatment or two before their big day. If you are planning any treatments, please consider the following:
Fake Tan- Trial any fake/spray tan months before to make sure you are happy with the colour, application and the specialist if you are using one. For your wedding, shave or wax 24-48 hours before to ensure your pores are closed before applying your tan. Skin should be exfoliated and moisturised before application. Make sure any instant tan is completely dry and you have previously tested the product for any streaking or transferring that may occur.
Natural tanning- it goes without saying that you need to wear SPF to keep safe and avoid burning but also be mindful of creating unsightly tan lines and strap marks on your shoulders\arms etc.; you don’t want to spoil the look of your lovely dress.
Eyelashes- Have any eyelash treatments in plenty of time to ensure you are not allergic to the products used.
Be mindful that eyelash extensions require specific mascara you will need to bring with you. Please note that this is NOT waterproof. There may also be some makeup fall out on the lashes.
Anti-wrinkle injections/fillers- Please be sensible in the timing and trialing of the procedure(s) as these treatments take up to 1 month to ‘settle’. It would be awful for you to try them for the first time too close to your wedding date and not be happy and comfortable with how you look. Also be mindful that injections can sometimes leave bruising and you make need follow up tweaks after the initial procedure which again will take time to settle.

Facials- Have any facials done in plenty of time for skin to calm down; you want to avoid any reactions or unnecessary breakouts.
Waxing and threading- would advise having eyebrows threaded rather than waxed. Either option should be done so that any hair follicles are closed, and any redness or potential rashes have disappeared.

Dying- Hair dying or eyelash or brow tinting should be done 1 week before your wedding day. Please ensure you or your chosen salon carry out a patch test to avoid any unnecessary reactions.

What will I need to do on the morning of my wedding?
Before I arrive try to make sure you have eaten, cleaned your teeth and your contact lenses (if you wear them) are already in. Ensure you are wearing something that won’t affect hair and makeup e.g. a dressing gown.

Would you recommend having hair or makeup done first?
It doesn’t matter too much and of course it is totally up to yourself however if you can have your hair done first this would be helpful to ensure your hair style isn't interrupted within a makeup application (I would especially recommend this where a person has a fringe). If it isn't possible, I can work around it and still ensure you will look picture perfect. I can also liaise with the hair stylist to ensure any touch ups can be made if/where possible.
